The best way to get up to speed on our products is an in-person walk-through with one of our product experts. Since that’s not always possible, we’ve produced some videos to explain operation, features, and options.

Panels & Jambs

Maximizing the potential of natural materials.

Our engineered Coastal Douglas Fir core adds strength and stability to our 1 ¾” and 2 ¼” door panels, as well as our 4 9/16” and 6 9/16” jambs. This also allows us to be good stewards of our material, as we use any less desirable material and/or cut-offs to construct this unseen core. Thick vertical grain skins of beautiful Coastal Douglas Fir hide the engineered core, and (unlike other manufacturers) you’ll never see a lamination interrupting the visible room surface.

Our narrow stiles and top rail are joined using blind tenons, our standard stiles and top rail are joined using fluted hardwood dowels, both very secure and traditional millwork details. For more contemporary applications we offer 3-inch vertical stiles and top rail with a 4 5/16-inch bottom rail. Conversely, one could choose larger 4 5/16-inch vertical stiles and top rail with a 7 7/8-inch bottom rail.

Our 2 ¼” door program takes our already exceptional swinging door offering to new heights. The added mass and substance of a door this thick needs to be experienced first-hand. These thicker panels add even more strength and stability, an important benefit for some of the larger doors we produce.

The 2 ¼” panels also allow us to include True Triple glazing without surface-mounted glazing stops, adding to the renowned performance of these doors. We’ve also moved the weatherstrip from the frame to the panel itself. The weatherstrip on the rabbeted panel is one continuous length, meaning you have fewer seams to potentially compromise seal against water and air infiltration.

2 1/4" Inswing Door

All Wood

We offer beautiful All-Wood doors in addition to our Extruded Aluminum-Clad doors.

Glazing & Glazing Appointments

Carefully spec’d sealed units and beautiful aesthetics.

Sealed units are built with minimum 1/8″ thick glass. This offers greater strength and clarity over thinner glass, making our products more insulative, more soundproof, more resistant to impact, and considerably more resistant to stresses caused by fluctuations in temperature. We also use full 1/2″ airspaces filled with Argon gas, in both our dual glazed and True Triple glazed sealed units. These carefully selected specifications are improved further by using LowE window systems.

Square, Putty, and Ogee glazing stops are all available. Glass panels can be decorated with architecturally correct grille patterns complete with airspace grilles. Our black stainless-steel spacer bars are less conductive than aluminum and structurally superior to silicone foam spacers.

Features

  • 3mm thick glass
  • Argon gas airspace fill
  • True Triple glazing available on 2 ¼” doors
  • Dual glazing with full ½” airspaces available on all doors
  • High-performing LowE window systems
  • Square, Putty, or Ogee glazing stops
  • Architecturally correct grille patterns with airspace grilles
  • High-performing black stainless-steel spacer bars

Glazing

True Triple Glazing

Our thick 2 1/4″ panels allow for True Triple Glazing (including full 1/2″ airspaces) without needing surface-mount glazing stops.

Glazing

Dual Glazing

Often our dual glazing offers more than enough energy performance.

High Performance Sills

A meticulously designed drainage system.

Our swinging Terrace doors include our standard bronze anodized sill made of a thick extruded aluminum. On most of our sills the extruded aluminum is thermally separated from a Coastal Douglas Fir substrate, with the sill designed to allow surface-draining of water. Our 2 ¼” inswing sill replaces the Coastal Douglas Fir substrate with polyamide, and also includes a splash guard and superb drainage using a positive/negative pressure ball-valve system.

Inswing Sill

Our 2 1/4" inswing door sill includes a polyamide thermal break, integrated splash guard, and ball-valve drainage system.

Screen & Storm Doors

To Complement Loewen Swinging Doors

Our premium swinging screen door complements our line of Swinging Terrace and French Doors. The screen door can be ordered for clad and all wood doors and is also available as a retrofit into any existing Loewen door frame.

Loewen has taken the functional screen door and designed a robust and clean aesthetic to enhance swinging terrace door entryways.

This is a complete door offering available in all current Loewen clad colors in an AAMA 2605 specification and all anodized finishes to match our doors and frames. Hinge assemblies are also color matched.

The removable standard screen panel is easily replaced with the optional storm panel for increased protection from the elements.

Large sizes are available – up to 3135 mm (123 7/16”) tall with screen only option. Narrow stile and rail dimensions of 2 7/8” allow for maximum openings. The strong construction allows the frame to be built without a bottom kick panel.

Hardware

High quality handle sets and multipoint gear systems.

Multipoint locking hardware — complete with brass handle set and escutcheon — and dead bolt are standard on all Terrace Doors. The Hoppe HLS9000 multipoint gear system (including head and sill shoot bolts) are used on all 2 ¼˝ doors. An additional lock point, closer to the top of the panel, is standard on OSM frame heights starting at 2331mm (91 ¾˝).

Our robust hardware is constructed from solid metal including bronze, brass, or steel allowing for oversized units. Multiple hardware type and finish choices are available.
