The Art & Techniques of Landscape Photography
Classroom and On-Location Workshop
Landscape photography isn’t just about f-stops and shutter speeds. It begins with an artist’s eye and a mindset that turns an ordinary landscape into an extraordinary photographic image. With a balanced understanding of artistic concepts, tools, techniques and workflow, the photographer can confidently create images worthy of hanging on any home or gallery wall.
Earl will share his knowledge and offer tips gathered over forty years of outdoor photography to clearly break down the elements of the fine landscape photograph. See Earl's work here
The class will be both in the Precision Camera classroom and on location for hands on learning.
- The relation of art history to photography
- Understanding the “layers” of a good landscape photograph
- The photographic workflow from previsualization to post-production
- The tools
- The techniques
- Lens(s) you wish to use
- Note-taking supplies
This workshop is geared towards all levels of photographers who are interested in landscape photography. It is strongly advised that all participants have a basic understanding of their camera’s controls prior to the class.
Schedule and Format
The first 3 hours of the class will be at the Precision Camera classroom. The class will then travel to the landscape location for the last 3 hours of the class.
